Exaptation
2023, polylactic acid, acrylic panel, steel rod, 43"x22"x10"
Exaptation traces the ghost of touch through machine-made skin. Each form was first sculpted by hand in digital space—a gesture translated into code, then exhaled into plastic by the logic of the printer. The result is a taxonomy of near-organisms: tools, toys, or relics that have slipped their original purpose. They feel both handled and unheld, intimate yet alien, like fossils of imagined futures. In their stillness, they ask what forms might emerge not from necessity, but from the evolutionary drift of care.
